“In a team all-hands, someone asked a question about diversity and inclusion. After some hand-waving, the example our manager gave for his commitment to diversity in hiring was about a contact from a Trump supporter who had seen a job listing that made him feel like he wouldn’t be welcome, and how the manager had reassured that person that all political beliefs were welcome on the team. Just about the most tone-deaf and backwards claim about inclusivity I’ve ever heard.”
