“Amazon had a program that brought corporate employees into warehouses during the holiday season to wrap presents before they were shipped out. At one of these events, standing in a circle of other engineers that were there for this program, one of the men asked if I was there as the wife of the person standing next to me. It was apparently inconceivable to him that I might also be on one of the engineering teams that were at the event that day. No one brought their spouse — I’m not sure if that was even allowed.”
